The Dover Police Department is one of the finest in the country, with professional and courteous service to all individuals. It is an Internationally Accredited Law Enforcement Agency in compliance with the professional standards of the
Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). It was the first Police Department in New Hampshire to gain accredited status in 1988, and was the 62nd in the United States of America.
The City of Dover has one of the lowest crime rates in the region. Each year the Dover Police Department responds to over 27,000 calls for service, makes 1,140 arrests for criminal offenses, and issues over 2,700 traffic citations.

Dover Crimeline works with the
Dover Police Department to enhance public safety in order to reduce crime in Dover New Hampshire. Dover Police Charities Program

Please help the Dover Police Department through the

Dover Mounted Police
The Dover Mounted Police acts as the ambassador of the Police Department, for both public relations and active duty. It is uncommon for people to approach a parked police cruiser, while the horses draw the attention of all ages.

King Arthur is a registered Percheron draft horse who stands 17 hands tall and weighs approximately 1,800 pounds. He was obtained by the Dover Mounted Patrol in the spring of 1998, and was previously at the Tufts University Veterinarian School in Massachusetts where he was a stud horse. King Arthur is a large, bold horse with a disposition to please the attention he gets from the community downtown. He completed basic mounted police training in the City of Boston, and his primary rider is Officer John Usher.

Black Jack is a five year old Percheron/Thoroughbred Cross, and the newest horse of the Dover Mounted Patrol, donated in 2007. He stands 16.2 hands and weighs approximately 1500 pounds. Black Jack is currently in training and his primary rider is Officer Michelle Murch.

T.J. is a Percheron/Thoroughbred Gelding who came to the Dover Police Department from Listowell, Ontario, and has been with the Dover Mounted Patrol since it was started nine years ago. Standing 16.3 hands and weighing approximately 1,500 pounds, T.J. is an extremely alert horse with an eager disposition, and is ridden by Officer Michelle Murch as well as Officer Joseph Caproni.
A Career in Criminal Justice
The Criminal Justice program at McIntosh College offers courses that teach students about Law Enforcement, Corrections, Probation, Parole, Criminal Investigations, Drug Enforcement, Cybercrimes, Weapons Training, Forensic Photography, Criminal Profiling, Juvenile Justice, Police Report Writing, Criminalistics, and the Lifestyles for Law Enforcement.
You would complete a CPR-First Aid Certification Program and be able to register for the entry-level officer examination through the McIntosh Police Testing Alliance.
