Abraham Lincoln HouseOriginally known as the Corporation House, this residence was built in 1831 by the Cocheco Manufacturing Company which served as the home for their Agent, John F. Minnick between 1916-1922. It is approximately 60’ x 60’ at the base of the main house, which consisted of 7,000 square feet of living quarters on the first and second stories, as well as a large attic. The barn that is attached on the left-hand side of the picture is two stories tall, consisting of an additional 4,000 square feet of floor space. There were six employees of Pacific Mills who maintained the home and accommodated the everyday needs of the Minnick family.

The Lincoln House now serves as the offices of Leone-McDonnell & Roberts PA at 113 Locust St, Dover New Hampshire. It has retained its Greek revival look with its elliptical pediment window, flush boards to simulate stone, floor to ceiling side windows, and gable front. The name “Lincoln House” is derived from Abraham Lincoln spending the night during his Presidential campaign tour in March 1860. He slept in the northeast bedroom and made his own bed before coming down for breakfast.
