Red’s Shoe Barn was started in 1958 by Peter J. “Red” Murray who sold shoes from many local factories out of a converted blacksmith’s shop. Within years, Red’s added brands from around the world to become one of New England’s largest footwear retailers. Red’s is a family owned business, now owned by Peter’s son, Patrick M. Murray, and has employees that have been with the company since the beginning, including General Manager Dave Whitehouse, who has been with Red’s for 41 years. Red’s also opened a second store in Plaistow in 1983.
Red’s Shoe Barn generally isn’t the place you would expect to find Snoopy or Woodstock, however there is a large selection of infant shoes, kid’s sneakers, skate shoes, girl’s fashion shoes & sandals, and athletic shoes, as well as a new kid’s activity center where children can color, make puzzles, play with building blocks, or read a book. Brands include Jumping Jacks, Keds, Munchkins, Stride Rite, Etnies, DC Shoes, Vans, Phat Farm, Crocs, Hush Puppies, Mootsies Tootsies, Adidas, Converse, Heely’s, K-Swiss, New Balance, Nike, Reebok, Skechers & more!
