Hundreds of pet owners attended the 13th annual Pet-A-Palooza to compete in a pet walk, pet kissing contest, and other events in Henry Law Park Sunday put on by the Cocheco Valley Humane Society (CVHS). Mark & Danielle of 97.5 FM WOKQ's Morning Waking Crew help promote the largest annual pet fundraiser. Sponsors included Holy Rosary Credit Union, Federal Savings Bank, Broadview Animal Hospital, Waste Management, and Central Park Veterinary Clinic.

The K9 Kaos team managed to hold their title in this year's top competition spot. K9 Kaos offers a daycare, full service grooming, training services, and a shop at 430 Dover Point Road. The competition consists of categories of individuals and teams, adult and youth, that gather pledges to benefit the animals in the care of CVHS. Prizes were also raffled off, including an Invisible Fence and an iPod Nano. Dozens of exhibitors were also present to promote products and services to pet owners.
Each year, CVHS cares for more than 2,500 surrendered, unwanted or abused pets from Strafford County and surrounding communities. The Cocheco Valley Humane Society first opened its doors in 1984 at a tiny shelter that now serves more than 180,000 residents. CVHS is a non-profit animal welfare organization that does not qualify for state or federal funding, relying solely on community donations, foundations, grants, and fundraisers like Pet-A-Palooza to maintain its operations, programs and services.
