The City of Dover has established an Energy Advisory Committee with the goal of making Dover NH a “Cool City”. Funds from a settlement with Waste Management of NH for environmental violations will be used on projects that will save energy by increasing energy efficiency. This will include reduction on dependence of fossil fuels to improve air quality. In May of 2006, the Dover City Council pledged to join the Cities for Climate Protection Campaign in order to take a leadership role to increase energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and implement a plan developed to reduce gas and air pollution in Dover NH.
Grant funds will be used to purchase hybrid vehicles, advanced facility heat, cooling and lighting controls, and automated equipment operations. The Energy Advisory Committee is comprised of five members, Eric Kelsey, Dona Layton, Randy Overbey, Brett Pasinella, and Eric Steltzer. Planning has taken place as of December 15th, 2007 to determine what to do with the funds, and will report to the Dover City Council on December 27th, 2007 at 5:30PM in Council Chambers.
