The remarques and prints were generously donated by Bob and Tricia DeColfmacker. All the proceeds from the sales will directly support the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital PRISM project.

Through a new affiliation with Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth (CHAD) the services of pediatric specialists, usually available only at major medical centers, will be offered on a part-time scheduled basis at the Hospital’s new outpatient PRISM (Pediatric Regional Institute for Specialty Medicine) facility. Specially designed for children, this clinical facility will be unique on the Seacoast and will attract families living in a wide geographic region.

PRISM will be newly constructed on the third floor of the Hospital at the south entrance over Same Day Surgery. The 6,000 square foot center will house offices and exam rooms to support multiple pediatric physician specialists, such as cardiologists, neurologists, gastroenterologists, urologists, etc. Ancillary team members will include nutritionists, speech pathologists and physical therapists.

Please note the purchase of the prints and remarques are not a charitable donation for the purchaser. Born in New Castle, New Hampshire on October 17, 1968, Christopher Ward’s early days were surrounded by unlimited inspiration. He watched as his artistic mother, who has attended Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts School, painted portraits of local people. Christopher’s father encouraged him to read and to pursue his deepest interests. His grandfather, a Coast Guard lighthouse keeper, took the family to spend summers in Cape Split, Maine. There, they would enjoy visits to the Farnsworth Museum where the masterful paintings of Maine’s exotic shoreline impressed Christopher. The young artist derived inspiration from the ambiance of living on an offshore island and he developed a love of the sea and it’s ever changing light.

Christopher Ward began painting watercolor at age six and by his early teens was experimenting with grinding his own pigments. While he practiced at developing his skills, he became enamored with the works of Martin Johnson Heade, Frederick Church and John Singer Sargent. Growing up on the island of New Castle, the intrinsic mystique surrounding the noted local artist, Edmund Tarbell, one of “The Boston Ten”, gave added impetus to Christopher’s enthusiasm to succeed and solidified his commitment to the brush.

Christopher Ward is best known for his detailed ship portraits and port scenes. Though he is an astute historian of his subjects, the scenes he paints are uniquely original, having been drawn from his imagination of what the subject would look like at that time.
