Dear DEX Member,

As you may have heard, there will be a carwash fundraiser Saturday from 9AM to 3PM at Advance Auto Parts, 2299 Lafayette Rd – Portsmouth, NH. That’s this Saturday – October 6th, 2007. Please help in any way you can – by letting people know they can get a free carwash, donations are accepted, or help to wash cars.

The next DEX meeting will be on Monday in Room 202 at the normal times – 1:30PM to 2:30PM, and 5:00PM to 6:00PM for nights. Come get your free Pizza and help us plan future fundraisers and community service projects. The McIntosh College blankets are going through compliance to determine if we can sell them as a DEX fundraiser. Numerous restaurant fundraisers have been mentioned in recent days, including Burger King, Uno’s, and Outback Steakhouse. The Donald Trump letter has been mailed. Let’s make it happen.

Community Service that is available includes Dover Main Street, the Cocheco Valley Humane Society, and others. Please attend the meeting to learn more about these exciting opportunities to become credible in your local community, network with local organizations, and become an inspiration to others. Our local DEX chapter isn’t just a place to get free Pizza – its part of a national organization that builds group dynamics and integrity among its members. So come – Eat – Free Pizza – so you can gain vision of a higher quality of life.

I hope to see you at the next DEX meeting – Room 202 – Next Monday.

Dear DEX Member,

The next DEX meeting will be on Monday, October 15th 2007 in Room 202 at the normal times – 1:30PM to 2:30PM, and 5:00PM to 6:00PM for nights. We will have a guest speaker – Rosemary and her daughter will discuss the cross-country bike trip. The McIntosh College blankets have passed through compliance, and we will determine how to proceed with the fundraiser. We are also planning a fundraiser at Uno’s.

If you missed this week’s meeting, we had Mike Sullivan, President of Student Government, who mentioned there will be a Beetles cover concert this Saturday people can volunteer to help support the research and awareness of the EEE virus. Student Government meets on Wednesdays at 1:30PM in Room 208.

There are community service opportunities sprouting up to encourage the heart to become involved in local organizations. The Woodman Institute Museum, Cocheco Valley Humane Society, SPCA, Dover Adopt a Spot, Dover Main Street, and the Joe Parks Garden Project featured in yesterday’s Foster’s Daily Democrat are only a couple of the opportunities our members have become involved with. If you’re interested in improving your leadership skills, model the way with Delta Epsilon Chi. Your future in leadership depends on enabling others to act – and there is free Pizza in Room 202 between 1:30PM to 2:30PM, and 5:00PM to 6:00PM every Monday.

Thank you once again to Lorelei Morgan, Chris Nutting & girlfriend, Nicola Whittle & kids, Lisa Hall & kids, Michael Magoon, and Advance Auto Parts for making the carwash happen. Our last minute planning managed to surpass last year’s record – and everyone did an excellent job washing cars. We were invited to have future carwashes at Advance Auto Parts!

I hope to see you once again at the next DEX meeting – Room 202 – Next Monday.

Dear DEX Member,

The next Delta Epsilon Chi meeting will be on Monday, October 22nd 2007 in Room 202 at the normal times – 1:30PM to 2:30PM, and 5:00PM to 6:00PM for nights.

If you missed the last meeting, Rosemary Taugher and her daughter Chelsea Taugher-Dias discussed their International Cycling Company, Traveling Roses LLC. www.compassroseint.net
The McIntosh College blankets have passed through compliance, and we still need to determine how to proceed with the fundraiser at a future meeting. There will be a Uno’s fundraiser on October 25th, 2007 pending application. Customers will be able to take coupons in any time that day, and a portion of their purchase will help raise funds for DEX.

There are many community service opportunities available. One of our members was introduced in front of the Dover Rotary Club today with a long applause for over 50 hours of work leading the Joe Parks Garden Project along the Cochecho River. This project is in cooperation with Dover Main Street, the City of Dover, Dover Rotary Club, United Way, the Ageless Dreamer Foundation, and a list of over 30 sponsors. One DEX member was also personally thanked by the Mayor of Dover for community service last Thursday during an Awards Benefit. These are examples of how our meetings help our members jump-start their credibility and become more prominent leaders in the community.
Dover Main Street is having a city clean-up day next Saturday, October 27th 2007. An online gift shop and website has been completed through volunteer work for the Woodman Institute Museum. There will be a fundraiser to help raise $75,000 for the garden project. The Cocheco Valley Humane Society and the SPCA are also available. The Red Cross is having a blood drive this Friday, October 19th from 2PM to 7PM at St. John’s Methodist Church, 28 Cataract Ave in Dover. There will also be a Red Cross Blood Drive on October 24th at Wal-Mart in Somersworth, and October 29th at Newick’s Seafood Restaurant, 431 Dover Point Road, Dover from 11AM to 4PM.

Discussions with Mike Provost at Dover Main Street has prompted an invitation to work with the Economic Enhancement Committee to provide pictures and documents to film writers in Hollywood through the NH Film Bureau, and initial documentaries are being established through the Ageless Dreamer Foundation. Discussions about a film based on Dover, New Hampshire are intriguing, with several credible contacts with Hollywood since the last meeting. An opportunity to gather pictures and information about Dover to make available through the NH Film Bureau is available through Dover Main Street and is extended to DEX members through the EEC. Dover is the oldest city in New Hampshire – the Primary State, having been settled in 1623 by William & Edward Hilton of London, England.

One of our members will also be playing the role of a former U.S. President in the Dover Main Street Presidents & Politicians, Historic Visits to Dover Revealed November 2-4, and 9-11. Tickets for tours are available at the Dover Public Library, and it will be filmed. Nearly 1,400 people will be able to attend, underwritten by the Foster’s Daily Democrat.

Thank you for your involvement with Student Leadership. We hope to see you during the next DEX meeting in Room 202 – Monday, October 22nd 2007.

Sincerely,

Patrick McElhiney
Secretary, Delta Epsilon Chi

Dear DEX Member,

The next Delta Epsilon Chi meeting will be on Monday, October 29th 2007 in Room 202 at the normal times – 1:30PM to 2:30PM, and 5:00PM to 6:00PM for nights.

We are still waiting for the letter from CEC that would allow us to sell McIntosh College blankets as a DEX fundraiser. The blankets have passed through compliance, and we decided they will cost $15. We need a follow-up on obtaining the letter to provide to Lisa Hall.

There was a Uno’s fundraiser today, October 25th, 2007, as announced last week and flyers were distributed directly in various ways by our members. Thank you for those who helped with the fundraiser.

There are several community service opportunities available now. One of our members was featured in the Foster’s Daily Democrat for leading the Joe Parks Garden on the Planning Commission with Dover Main Street. This was a $40,000 project recognized by the Foster’s again on 10/24/2007. http://www.fosters.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...ERS01/710240048

This is only one example of how our club helps members accelerate their potential and become more prominent leaders in the community. Dover Main Street is having a city clean-up day this Saturday, October 27th 2007 from 9:00am until 1:00pm. Volunteers are asked to assemble at 9:00am at City Hall for work assignments. Please wear loose comfortable clothing and bring any gloves, rakes, shovels, and tarps if you have them.

There will be a fundraiser to help raise $75,000 for the Woodman Institute Museum later. The Cocheco Valley Humane Society and the SPCA are still available. The Red Cross is having a blood drive again on October 29th at Newick’s Seafood Restaurant, 431 Dover Point Road, Dover from 11AM to 4PM. Here is the complete schedule for New England Blood Drives with the American Red Cross: http://newenglandblood.org/nh/scheduleb.htm

One of our members will be playing the role of a former U.S. There was a radio advertisement that started today, it will be aired on cable television, and sold on DVD.

New DEX Business Cards have been created in file format for paid members and are waiting to be printed. A blog for DEX was set up here: http://www.doverwasfirst.com/board/category/10/DEX-Forum/ You can post messages and upload files. If the club decides this is useful, additional security permissions can be added, as well as moderation capability.

Thank you for your involvement with Student Leadership. We hope to see you during the next DEX meeting in Room 202 – Monday, October 29th 2007.

Sincerely,

Patrick McElhiney

Dear DEX Member,

Thank you for being a member of Delta Epsilon Chi - one of the finest Student Leadership Organizations at McIntosh College. If you’re an active paid member, there’s great news! Your DEX business cards are on the way! Come to next week’s meeting to pick out your cards!

Trump Organization

We received a letter back from the Trump Organization, and unfortunately they are unable to make any donation to DEX at this time. The letter did not specify that DEX members could not visit the Trump Tower; however DEX could look into these options again in the future. I believe that any great leader has patience with his or her mission, and the communication that has been established is unparalleled to the past of DEX at McIntosh College. This is an important step in the direction of a successful future.

Blanket Fundraiser

A letter from CEC will be obtained for permission to produce the blankets as a fundraiser. The blankets will cost $15 and profits will be able to finance future DEX events. Follow-up is needed with CEC.

Other Fundraisers

No additional information was presented regarding the results of the Uno’s fundraiser. No progress was made at the President’s Meeting in regards to the Bake Sale or use of the Culinary Restaurant. Ammy will follow-up with Michael Magoon to obtain additional information on how to proceed.

Student Government

Michael Sullivan invites DEX members to join Student Government to work together on future events and community service. Student Government meets Wednesday, 1:30PM in Room 208.

Community Service

1. Ammy and Lori volunteered at the Seacoast Schmooze through the Dover Chamber of Commerce: http://www.dovernh.org/SeacoastChambers/Expo.htm
2. There will be a planting party at the Joe Parks Garden, Cocheco River / Central Ave Bridge Dover New Hampshire on Thursday, November 1st 2007 from 5-7PM. Free pizza after work!
3. The Dover Holiday Parade is November 25th, 2007 at 3:00pm – Dover Main Street.

Dear DEX Member,

There was an error in the minutes that read there will be a Delta Epsilon Chi meeting next Monday, November 12th. I am pleased that we are organizing “Support Our Troops With Care Packages”, however school will not open next Monday.

Veteran’s Day is legally on November 11th. The holiday was set up on November 11th in 1954 by President Eisenhower to honor military veterans on the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I on November 11th, 1918.

I am more than happy to meet on November 12th to work with Delta Epsilon Chi and I encourage members to improve their leadership skills by working on community service projects such as “Support Our Troops With Care Packages”.

Sincerely,

Patrick McElhiney
